OUR EFFORTS TO HELP PATIENTS WITHÂ COVID-19
REPURPOSING SALON HAIR DRYERS INTO PORTABLE AIRVENTS
Highland Machine has been working closely with a task force at NYU Tandon to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Since the virus is commonly spread through pathogens in the air from an infected individual, the challenge is to reduce the exposure to those nearby. Our signature salon hair dryers have been repurposed into AirVENTs that serve as personal negative pressure hoods during this process, stopping contaminated air from infecting healthcare professionals nearby.
These AirVENTs utilize dryers that have been modified to reverse the direction of the blower, allowing them to pull contaminated air away from the patient through a disposable HEPA filter.
They are currently in the second phase of prototyping and being tested in multiple hospitals. Stay tuned for more updates as these AirVENTs develop. Plus, scroll through the images below to see more.
